The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a man identified simply as Michael for fatally stabbing his friend, Uchenna, during a dispute over a missing mobile phone.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, February 12, at Egede Street, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt.
According to eyewitnesses, an argument broke out after Michael accused Uchenna of stealing his phone.
The source close to the incident said that Uchenna had visited Michael at his residence, and after some time Michael realised his phone was missing.
He accused Uchenna of theft, leading to a heated argument. In the heat of the moment, Michael allegedly picked up a jackknife and stabbed Uchenna in the stomach.
Uchenna was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Michael was later arrested by the police and is currently in custody.
The Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Superintendent of Police Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident and stated that Michael has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Port Harcourt for further investigation.
