According to a member of the rescue team, who spoke with Naija TODAY News, the latest rescue operation took place at a bushy area linking Fiditi to Ilu-Aje, Afijio local government, Oyo State, at approximately 07:30 hours on February 28, 2025. On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Amotekun, in collaboration with local hunters, rescued four kidnapped victims, including the two wives and two sons of Baale Alagede. The victim rescued today, Mr. Olabiyisi Mobolaji, a resident of Akinmorin, Ile Bashorun, Afijio local government, Oyo State, recounted his harrowing experience to Naija TODAY News. According to Mobolaji, he was kidnapped by Fulani herdsmen around 01:00 hours on February 28, 2025, at Jobele, behind the Federal School of Navy, Eekewa area, Afijio local government, Oyo State.
Mobolaji described how the kidnappers stopped trailers on the Ibadan Expressway using guns, before demanding a ransom of N100 million from him. After negotiations, the ransom was reduced to N10 million, but before the payment could be made, Amotekun operatives arrived at the scene and rescued him. This daring rescue operation, which was carried out with precision and professionalism, has been hailed as a major breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and insecurity in Oyo State.
