A two-year-old child is in hospital after their twin accidentally shot them with a gun, police said.
Henry County Police rushed to a home in Hampton, Georgia, USA, around noon on Wednesday, March 12, to reports of a shot fired, according to Fox5.
A toddler, whose name and gender have not been released, was airlifted from the home at 200 Robin Hood Lane in the village just south of Atlanta.
First responders from the Henry County Fire Rescue Units treated the child at the scene before they were taken to the hospital.
Officials said they are now in a stable condition.
The home where the shooting happened has been cordoned off by police.
A resident in the area told Fox5 that officers were preventing local people from accessing part of the street as they investigate what happened.
Detectives said they believe the child’s twin sibling “gained possession of the firearm” and accidentally shot the weapon.
It’s unclear who owned the weapon or what type of gun it was. No one has been charged over the shooting
Images from the scene show investigators searching the one-story home, which has been cordoned off from the rest of the street with yellow tape.
