By Kayode Sanni-Arewa
Ghana’s Black Stars are set to participate in a high-profile four-nation tournament in June, where they will take on fierce West African rivals Nigeria and European giants England.

Elon Musk Sells X To His AI Company

Elon Musk has revealed that he sold the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to his artificial intelligence company xAI in an all-stock transaction valued at $33 billion (€30.5 billion).
Musk acquired Twitter over two years ago before rebranding it as X.
Both companies remain privately held, exempting them from public financial disclosures. Musk shared on X that the “combination values xAI at $80 billion and X at $33 billion ($45B less $12B debt).”
He elaborated, “Since its founding two years ago, xAI has rapidly become one of the leading AI labs in the world, building models and data centers at unprecedented speed and scale.
“X is the digital town square where more than 600M active users go to find the real-time source of ground truth and, in the last two years, has been transformed into one of the most efficient companies in the world, positioning it to deliver scalable future growth.”
Musk emphasised the interconnected futures of xAI and X, stating, “Today, we officially take the step to combine the data, models, compute, distribution and talent. This combination will unlock immense potential by blending xAI’s advanced AI capability and expertise with X’s massive reach.”
He added, “The combined company will deliver smarter, more meaningful experiences to billions of people while staying true to our core mission of seeking truth and advancing knowledge.
“This will allow us to build a platform that doesn’t just reflect the world but actively accelerates human progress.”
Musk, who also advises President Donald Trump in the unofficial DOGE department, initially purchased Twitter for $44 billion (€40 billion) in 2022. Following the acquisition, he implemented significant workforce reductions, altered policies on hate speech, misinformation, and user verification, and rebranded the platform as X.
A year later, Musk launched xAI. In December, he announced plans to expand the AI start-up’s supercomputer, ‘Colossus,’ to compete with rivals like OpenAI. This expansion involves increasing the number of GPUs to accelerate the development of new AI models.
The implications of this move for X users remain uncertain. Currently, xAI leverages data from X user posts to train its AI models, while paying X users have access to its AI chatbot, Grok.

“How I threatened to fire Wike over TSA exemption but I’m happy with him”-Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has revealed how he threatened to sack FCT minister, Nyesom Wike for demanding for exemption from TSA.
Tinubu made this revelation on Sunday when the minister led Abuja residents to him to mark Sallah.
Tinubu explained that freeing the FCT from TSA restrictions has swiftly catalysed infrastructure improvements, enhanced healthcare services, and increased security measures.
“I remember the day Nyesom Wike came to me and said, ‘please take us out of this problem of TSA so that I can do more work and achieve more’. I said show me what you are about to do, and he presented himself.
“And I threw him my own political jibe. I said will that give me any opportunity for my party to win election in the FCT? I said, I know where you are coming from, your own party or my party. But if this thing goes too much in your own favour, you will lose your job.
“He said, okay, we will settle that oga. And everything started changing rapidly. I started seeing the opening up of the rural areas by the FCT, the resuscitation of abandoned projects, and the completion of the Vice President’s official residence that was abandoned for years.
“The FCT rehabilitated health care centres, upgraded facilities for school children, and provided furniture,” Tinubu said.
The President thanked the FCT Minister for proving that liberation from the bureaucracy was necessary and for restructuring the FCT public service so that civil servants could aspire to higher positions and provide leadership.
“We wouldn’t have been able to open our mouths to celebrate if not because of the progressive ideas you brought to FCT. We can now celebrate the innovative ideas brought to the FCT,” President Tinubu said.
President Tinubu encouraged FCT residents and other Nigerians to look beyond ethnic and religious colourations in their leadership choices and focus more on results.
“Today, we live in peace, and security is improving. Hunger is coming down. Food prices are lowering. We can go to the market and do business. And our diversity and belief in ourselves are becoming stronger.
“We are not looking for magic. We are looking for results. We are looking for comfort. We are praying for good health. We are looking for someone who cares,” the President noted.
“The job is not just about Wike or me, but everyone. Nyesom Wike is proving the diversity of Nigeria. He strengthened that diversity to develop prosperity, showing us that we are all members of one family, living together in the same house, in different rooms, and under one roof,” the President said.
President Tinubu urged more tolerance, broadmindedness and patriotism.
“All I appeal for is tolerance, which has brought us this far. We have learnt some lessons from Ramadan. May the lessons continue to be with us,” he said.
The FCT minister thanked the President for hosting the residents in the State House.
“This visit marks a historic moment as it is the first time the FCT residents can extend our greetings and best wishes to you in person during this blessed period. We are genuinely delighted to be here”.
Wike pledged his loyalty to the President and committed himself to developing the capital city, assuring that the FCT would soon complete many projects.
“Despite our varied backgrounds, we are united in our unwavering support for your administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he added.
The Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima, National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu and Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, attended the ceremony.
The FCT delegation included members of the National Assembly, judiciary, religious and traditional leaders, security chiefs and women and youth groups.
