The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s resolve to decisively defeat insurgents through sustained air operations and deployment of advanced warfare technologies.
Abubakar made the pledge during a visit to the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai in Maiduguri, Borno State—an engagement that came just days after Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, raised alarm over deteriorating security conditions in the region.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Edward Ehimen Ejodame, the Air Chief commended the bravery and resilience of frontline troops, promising continued support to strengthen their efforts in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations.
“Air Marshal Abubakar emphasised that their bravery and resilience in the face of adversity have not gone unnoticed,” the statement said. “His visit, marked by personal interactions with troops, underscored his deep appreciation for their dedication and the vital role airpower plays in neutralizing threats and protecting communities.”
After receiving operational briefings from field commanders, the Air Chief reiterated NAF’s commitment to maintaining air superiority by leveraging precision airstrikes, real-time intelligence, and cutting-edge technology.
The Air Chief also stressed the critical role of public support in achieving lasting peace, highlighting the importance of unity, inter-agency collaboration, and civilian cooperation in the fight against insurgency.
“Reaffirming the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to maintaining dominance in the battlespace, the CAS pledged continued investment in cutting-edge technology to empower frontline units,” the statement added.
Operation Hadin Kai remains the flagship military operation against Boko Haram and other insurgent groups in the North-East, with the NAF providing strategic air support to ground forces and humanitarian corridors.
