Dr. Natasha Idibia, wife of legendary Nigerian singer Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, has sparked public conversation after a strongly worded statement surfaced online in which she addressed reported tensions in their marriage and challenged traditional expectations placed on women.
In the statement attributed to her, Dr. Natasha stressed that being married to a celebrity does not place her under any form of subservience. She noted that her professional standing as a doctor and career woman affords her the right to equal respect within marriage.
“Being a musician doesn’t mean you are above the law; being a man doesn’t mean you can do and undo,” she stated. “If your ex took that rubbish from you, I won’t. I can’t take orders or give submission to another human simply because he is my husband. We are all equal.”
She also emphasized that living in London, where she claims both men and women are treated equally, has influenced her firm stance on issues of respect and partnership. According to her, she has advised her husband to “go back to school,” implying that exposure and learning could help address behavioural differences.
The remarks, which ignited widespread reactions on social media, have now drawn commentary from Nollywood veteran Shan George, who publicly defended 2Baba and pleaded with Dr. Natasha to treat him with respect.
In a viral video, Shan George urged Dr. Natasha to stop “embarrassing” the singer, alleging that she had mistreated him in public. She argued that 2Baba remains a highly admired figure and should not be subjected to repeated humiliation.
“If Natasha doesn’t value him and keeps embarrassing and beating him in public like she did, he should leave her,” Shan George said. She went on to describe 2Baba as a “trophy,” adding that his charm and reputation mean many women would happily welcome him if he ever became single.
Shan George insisted that 2Baba is not the problem in the relationship. Instead, she suggested that women’s admiration for him often creates complications around him. “Women are obsessed with him,” she said, stressing that the attention he receives should not be a basis for conflict.
As reactions continue to swell, neither 2Baba nor his management has issued an official statement. The unfolding drama has nonetheless reignited public debate about gender roles, marital boundaries, and the pressures faced by celebrity couples navigating private issues in the public eye.
