The Deputy Speaker House of Representatives, Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu, has expressed profound sadness following the death of Senator Okey Ezea, who passed away on 18 November at the age of 62.
In his message of condolence, Kalu reflected on the loss as a significant blow to both the National Assembly and the country at large.
He recalled Senator Ezea’s commitment to public service, while noting that his efforts in promoting national development and strengthening democratic institutions had left a lasting impact.
The Deputy Speaker also praised the late senator’s calm leadership style, humility, and steadfast devotion to the people he represented.
He extended his deepest sympathies to Senator Ezea’s family, constituents, colleagues, and all Nigerians grieving his passing, offering prayers for comfort and strength during this difficult time.
Kalu said, “On behalf of my family and the good people of Bende Federal Constituency, i extend my condolences to the family of late Senator, Okey Ezea. His death has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill, especially at a time when the country needs experienced leaders who understand the complexities of governance and the aspirations of the people.
“I condole with the Senate, the entire National Assembly, Enugu State government and all Nigerians who valued the Senator’s exemplary leadership and statesmanship. May his soul rest in Peace.”
