Kwara woman, son brutalise girl for alleged N2,000 theft

Men of the Security and Civil Defence Corps have arrested a whose name was given as Adamo Yinusa and her son, Saheed, in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, for allegedly brutalising a 12-year-old girl.

The state command of the NSCDC said the two suspects were arrested at the Oniponmo compound in the Oko Olowo area in Ilorin South Local Area based on a report from a concerned person.

Yinusa was said to have beaten the girl severely for allegedly stealing N2,000 from her shop.

A statement by the spokesperson of the command, Ayeni Olasunkanmi, read, “The Gender Unit of the NSCDC, Kwara State Command, arrested Adamo Yunusa and her son, Saheed Yunusa, for brutalising 12-year-old Sukura Suleiman.

“The report of the alleged brutality was brought to the command headquarters by a concerned citizen who got the hint of the severe injuries inflicted on the little girl by her Aunty (Adamo).

“The two suspects were arrested at their residence in Ile Oniponmo, Ayelabowo in the Oko-Olowo area, Ilorin.

“The suspects alleged that the victim was beaten because she stole the sum of N2,000.”

Ayeni said the state commandant, Tukur Ibrahim, urged the people of the state to be more vigilant and report any criminal act or security threat in their communities.

He also assured the people of the state of the command's readiness to respond to any security threat.
