Davido’s baby mama, Sophia Momodu has claimed that singer’s sisters tried to kidnap her daughter Imade, when she was three months old.

Davido and his ex-lover Sophia have recently been subjects of media discourse in a court tussle over child custody.

The singer filed a motion through Olaniyi Arije and Okey Barrah, his lawyers, at the Lagos high court on April 17, 2024.

He sought a court order granting him “unfettered and unrestricted access” to Imade who is aged nine.

Davido said he has been responsible for Imade’s education, housing, transportation, living expenses, health care, and periodic travel.

He, however, expressed concern that Sophia has been causing him emotional distress with her “utopian” demands.

He alleged that she also once denied him access to their daughter for up to “two years”.

Last month, Momodu responded to Davido’s lawsuit, arguing that she has never denied the singer access to their daughter.

Through her legal representatives Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors and Bimpe Ajegbomogun & Co., she claimed Davido “repeatedly threatened” to make her life “miserable” if she did not make herself “available to him sexually”.

In a legal document dated June 26, Sophia alleged that Davido connived with his sisters to “try and kidnap three-months-old Imade out of Nigeria”.

Momodu claimed Davido’s sisters tried to take her daughter away from me “permanently” under the guise of a holiday.

She revealed that it took the intervention of the immigration services to rescue Imade from Davido’s sisters.

Citing the incident, Sophia argued that the singer was “not fit to be a father”.

Her narration partly reads: “The applicant has demonstrated that he is not a fit father. He, in concert with his father and sisters, has tried on many occasions to kidnap our daughter and take her outside Nigeria and/or out of my reach without my consent.

“That at one time when our daughter was just three months old, she was kidnapped by his sister under the pretence that she was being taken on holiday by her whilst they were planning to take our daughter out of the country and out of my reach permanently.

“Due to the intervention of the Nigerian Immigration services, she was intercepted at the airport and apprehended for falsely representing herself as our daughter’s mother before they could leave the country, thus ensuring the safe return of our daughter to my custody.”

Veteran Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has sparked conversation after arguing that financial success is not always learned in classrooms, insisting that many of life’s greatest wealth lessons came from experienced traders and mentors rather than professors.

Speaking on Joey Akan’s podcast, Jim questioned whether many lecturers truly outperform the students they teach when it comes to succeeding in the real world.

“Can we even argue about the people that are our tutors, our professors? How many of them are really doing well in life? Haven’t you exceeded every tutor that ever sat in the classroom to tell you the dynamics of how to survive in the economic world?” he asked.

Recalling a recent encounter with one of his former professors, the actor said, “I met my professor recently, God bless his soul. We all knew who was doing better when we sat on that plane. I had to look back to greet him; he had to look forward to greet me. Somebody sat in business class, but that’s not the point.”

According to Jim, blindly following everything he learned in school would not have brought him the success he enjoys today.

“I’ll tell you what worked, it’s what the uncles spoke to me, the traders that barely went to school but amassed untold wealth. The father that sat in front of me and told me, ‘Forget all that book. This is a time to be ruthless, this is a time to conform, this is a time to stoop to conquer.’”

He further argued that many of the world’s richest people did not build their fortunes through academic qualifications alone, adding, “Some of the wealthiest men in the world did not get it from classrooms. How many of them have PhDs? I have a PhD that works for me.”

Veteran Nollywood actor Ricardo Agbor has shared the emotional story of his 18-year wait to become a father, revealing that he and his wife were blessed with twins after nearly two decades of marriage.

Speaking in an interview with AfricanAList, Agbor said he remained committed to his wife throughout the difficult period despite societal expectations.

“I wanted to get married to a particular lady; I married her regardless of where she is from. She is not from my tribe. So ordinarily, we were supposed to have strife; no, it was very fair.”

Recalling their journey to parenthood, the actor said he never stopped believing and specifically asked God to bless them with twins.

“It took 18 years for me to have the twins. And I waited. God knows, 18 years and they are 14 now, so I told God I wanted twins.”

“So while that wait was on, if it were someone else, he would cross. But at the end of the day, I have twins. I have a boy and a girl. I asked God what I wanted.”

Agbor also described losing his mother as the most heartbreaking experience of his life.

He said after weeks of treatment without improvement, doctors advised that she be flown to South Africa, but she asked to be moved to another hospital in Surulere instead.

“My mom died right in my arms… It was my mom that told me to take her away from that place. As I was carrying her into the car, she gave up.”

The actor said the tragedy left him shattered. “I think that was the first time I cried in my life. I don’t cry. If I cry, maybe it is in a movie and it is a role. So I cried. It was painful.”
