Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has hit back at lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju following his criticism of recent demolitions in Abuja.
Adeyanju, alongside Vincent Martins Otse (known as VeryDarkMark), led a protest last Friday against the demolition of the Ruga settlement along Airport Road, arguing that the action was unjustifiable and urging President Bola Tinubu to intervene.
Responding to the protest, Wike dismissed Adeyanju’s criticism, calling him “jobless.” In an interview with select journalists on Wednesday, Wike recounted how he had previously rejected Adeyanju’s request to be appointed National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Wike explained, “This young man, Adeyanju, from Kogi State, came to me wanting to be the PDP National Publicity Secretary, but I said no.” Wike further added that he had no regrets about his decision and suggested that Adeyanju had turned to civil activism due to a lack of employment.
