Over the past two years, the House of Representatives has enacted 27 bills focused on environmental issues, out of a total of 899 proposed during the 10th Assembly, according to a statement released on Thursday.
The Chairman House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Rep. Akin Rotimi stated this during the 2025 World Environment Day, with the theme, “Beat Plastic Pollution,”, drawing attention to the growing challenges posed by plastic waste, especially in urban areas where single-use plastics continue to impact sanitation and public health.
Rotimi emphasised the legislature’s ongoing commitment to environmental policy, noting that the House remains focused on legislation that promotes sustainability, strengthens climate resilience, and ensures a safer, cleaner environment for Nigerians across the country.
