In a video posted online, Fayose described Atiku’s alleged exit as a major relief for the party and declared that now is the perfect time for Peter Obi to return to the PDP and secure the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.

In his words:

“Good news! Atiku has finally resigned from the PDP. I’ve been hoping for this moment for years—he’s finally gone. This is the third time in 20 years. That’s what I call desperation.”

Fayose went on to say that Atiku’s repeated exits and returns have destabilized the PDP, branding it a shameful cycle.

“For a party like the PDP—Africa’s biggest—it’s a welcome development. Southerners can now pursue the presidency without anyone obstructing them. Atiku has held the party back for too long. I honestly don’t know what he’s looking for in the villa. In and out, three times in 20 years? That’s embarrassing!”

He concluded by calling on Peter Obi to return:

“I really hope Obi comes back to the PDP. They’ve got the structure and national spread. This is the time!”
