The Nigerian government has reiterated its commitment to hosting a world-class World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) in Abuja in November 2026, positioning the country as a leading destination for global communication and strategic engagement.
Speaking at the formal unveiling ceremony of the forum on Monday, in Abuja, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, who congratulated the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) for securing the hosting rights of the global event, stressing that the choice of Abuja as the host city was a clear acknowledgment of Nigeria’s growing global relevance.
The minister who was represented by Spokesperson of the Ministry, Kimiebi Ebienfa, noted that in today’s fast-evolving communication landscape, strategic engagement was more crucial than ever.
“Indeed, the choice of Abuja for WPRF 2026 is a powerful testament to Nigeria’s growing stature on the world stage. It is a recognition of our vibrant democracy, our dynamic economy, and our unyielding commitment to fostering open and constructive dialogue, both within our borders and across the continent.
“In an era of rapid information exchange and complex global challenges, the role of strategic communication has never been more critical. It is the bedrock of mutual understanding, the engine of economic diplomacy, and a vital tool for shaping a future defined not by division but by collaboration and shared progress,” the Minister said.
He explained that hosting WPRF 2026 is closely tied to Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives and its 4Ds framework — Demography, Democracy, Development and Diaspora.
Tuggar said the event will showcase African perspectives, strengthen international partnerships, and highlight Nigerian excellence on the global stage.
“Therefore, hosting the WPRF 2026 aligns perfectly with our foreign policy objectives of promoting Nigeria as a premier destination for investment, tourism, and international discourse, which is anchored on the 4Ds – Demography, Democracy, Development, and Diaspora Foreign policy thrust of the current administration.
“The event no doubt will provide a unique platform to: Showcase Africa’s Narrative, Foster Global Partnerships by connecting Nigerian and African communication professionals with their counterparts from around the world, facilitating knowledge transfer, and creating new avenues for collaboration and highlight the unique Nigerian Excellence.
“It will be an avenue to display our world-class infrastructure, our rich cultural heritage, and our renowned hospitality to an influential international audience”, he stated.
The Minister further assured the commitment of the government to ensuring a smooth, secure, and successful forum.
“Let me use this medium to assure all prospective participants, delegates, and partners that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in conjunction with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and all relevant agencies, is fully committed to ensuring a seamless, peaceful, and exceptionally successful event.
“The Ministry will be dedicating the necessary resources and expertise to facilitate the seamless issuance of visas by our missions abroad to international participants who will be visiting Nigeria for the event to deliver a forum that is not only productive but also an unforgettable experience.
