Two men from Mbare, Zimbabwe, have been sentenced to six months in prison after being caught wearing clothes they stole during a burglary at a woman’s home.
The suspects — Takudzwa Munetsi (27) and Brian Madakudya (29) — were convicted of unlawful entry by the Mbare Magistrate’s Court. They received a 12-month jail term, with six months suspended under conditions of good behavior and restitution.
According to prosecutors, the men broke into the victim’s home on August 26, 2025, stealing groceries, clothing, and household goods worth about US$500. The victim later spotted Madakudya wearing one of her stolen garments in public on October 2, prompting his arrest and confession. He also implicated Munetsi. 
Only US$3 worth of goods were recovered, as most items had been sold or discarded. The court ordered both men to repay US$497 to the victim.
In sentencing, the magistrate warned that burglary and theft undermine community safety, stressing that offenders “must face the full weight of the law.”
