The House of Representatives has instructed the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Engr. Bayo Ojulari, to provide all pending documents requested by its Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

At a sitting in Abuja on Monday, the PAC Chairman, Rep. Bamidele Salam, directed the NNPCL helmsman to appear before the committee on Monday, 15 December 2025, to address audit queries issued by the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation relating to expenditure from January to December 2021.

Rep. Salam voiced his dissatisfaction with the company’s continued failure to respond to invitations or supply the necessary documents despite repeated reminders, stressing that the committee “will no longer tolerate” what it regards as disregard for the Legislature’s oversight responsibilities.

He also read a letter sent by NNPCL in which the GCEO explained that he could not attend the sitting due to “another critical official engagement at the Presidential Villa.”

Members of the committee criticised the company’s approach, characterising it as disrespectful to the House and a hindrance to the audit process.

After an appeal from the NNPCL’s National Assembly Liaison Officer, Hon. Umar Faruk, the committee agreed to grant one final opportunity, setting 15 December 2025 as the date for the company to appear and submit every outstanding document.

Rep. Salam said: “We have agreed as a committee to give you up till next week Monday, the 15th of December, for a fresh appearance. Remember, the committee is very busy; we are dealing with so many issues. If you have been here in the last couple of weeks, you would understand the volume of matters before us.”

The NNPCL is expected to clarify various issues raised by the Auditor-General, including alleged payments to contractors handling abandoned projects, failure to deduct mandatory taxes, and irregular disbursements made by the Chief Finance Officer without the approval of the Group Managing Director.
