The wife of the ex- Chief of General Staff (CGS) Augustus Aikhomu Dame Rebecca Aikhomu is dead.

Close family sources confirmed she passed on Thursday evening after a very brief illness.
Her late husband, Augustus Aikhomu, served as the de facto Vice President of Nigeria under military president General Ibrahim Babangida from 1986 to 1993, died in 2011.
Dame Rebecca Aikhomu, is a retired Captain of the Nigerian Army Nursing Corps.
She recently celebrated her 85th birthday in August 2025, an event attended by family, friends, and several dignitaries who described her as a woman of selflessness, patience, and a pillar of strength.
