The 7th Ofala festival of Royal Majesty, Igwe Okey Ogbodo, the traditional ruler of Ikem Uno autonomous community kicked off Monday 29th with fanfares heralded by early morning gun salutes from the five clans of the community.
The ceremony which was declared open by His Royal Highness, Igwe Samuel Asadu, the Ogadagidi one of Edem Ani and the Chairman, Enugu State Traditional Rulers’ Council at the Central School Ikem Uno with a lot of cultural displays that added glamour to festivity.
Monday’s opening ceremony also witnessed the handing over of motorcycles donated by illustrious sons of the community and th final of the football competition at 4pm at the same venue with a kick-off performed by Igwe Ogadagidi. 
Speaking during event, the Enugu State leader of the traditional Rulers’ Council said the country at the moment, “needs cultural and value orientation to begin to redirect the minds and skills our youths positively”.
He commended Igwe Ogbodo for involving youth focused programmes like football competition and a seminar on dangers of drug abuse for the 7th Ofala adding that he was happy to be part of the opening and pledged his supports for the football competition.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, Igwe Ogbodo described Ogadagidi as a friend and ally whose leadership styles as the Enugu State leader of Traditional Rulers’ council had inspired him and many others.
He commended him for finding time to come for the opening ceremony despite his tight schedules noting that such was a demonstration of love and regards he has for the people of Ikem and Isi Uzo in general.
