A pressure group, League of Democracy Defenders (LDD) has described as false, report being circulated on Social Media that the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, threatened to expose 2023 election outcome and warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of APC implosion.
The group, which said the intention of those behind the fake news was to sow the seed of discord between President Tinubu and Wike; on one hand, and the FCT Minister against the leadership of the APC, high ranking government officials, some APC Governors, and other senior members of the ruling party, added that they failed woefully.
The LDD accused agents of the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara of being behind circulation of the fake news, as well as many other activities aimed at vilifying and castigating the FCT Minister. 
In fact, there are reports that, many bloggers and influencers have been contracted, through a few leading figures in the media to kickstart a full-scale blackmail and attacks on Wike.
Further, the coordinated media onslaughts will allegedly be in the regular and social media; content creators; radio and television stations; as well as contrived public rallies, protests, walks, and demonstrations in Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, and a few other major cities across the country.
As stakeholders in Nigeria’s democratic governance, and followers of the political developments in Rivers State, we are not surprised by the last-dice being played by these agents of Governor Fubara.
Worried about their impending loss of power, it is clear that they have yielded to the swarm of selfish, desperate, and mischievous elements around and about him to latch on last-minute efforts towards slandering, misinformation, and other shenanigans on Wike; with the hope of getting some considerations and respite.
As a pressure group that will come out, at the appropriate time to publicly declare our support for the second-term aspiration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, we are utterly surprised that Governor Fubara, who claims to be rooting for Tinubu is pulling all avenues to fight Minister Wike, whose unwavering commitment to President Tinubu, the pursuit of “Renewed Hope” agenda, and unequivocal support for his aspiration in 2027 is known to all and sundry.
We ask, Governor Fubara, why vilify Minister Wike? Why denigrate him? Why disparage him? Why derogate the man through whom you became Governor of the 2nd richest state? Why, with the aiding and betting of some “new found friends and advisers” roll out propaganda machineries against Wike, who is undoubtedly, one of the high-performing appointees of President Tinubu; the National Leader of your new party.
It is imperative for Governor Fubara to know and realize that, contrary to whatever the group of acolytes are telling him, there are irrefutable facts to confirm that Minister Wike, before the 2023 presidential election and till date has emerged as one of the prime, loyal supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In thoughts, words, and actions, Minister Wike remains reliable and dependable to him, his policies, and government. We are very confident that, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, given his decades-long expertise in politics, will easily discern and decipher the kindergarten moves of the rabble-rousers that are urging and prodding Governor Fubara, for their selfish reasons to take actions that are swiftly moving him away from the good people of Rivers State, and many others across the country.
On a final note, we reiterate that no amount of Rivers State’s commonwealth that are (or will be) illegally expended on any, every sponsored campaign of calumny against Minister Wike will not succeed. Such degree(s) of invented and contrived attacks allegedly by Governor Fubara, and his legion of spin doctors will continue to fail and fall like pack of cards. We, wholeheartedly advise Governor Fubara to toe the path of honour by immediately stopping such designs, and sincerely seek for genuine peace, and enduring resolutions of all disagreements with Minister Wike, Rivers State House of Assembly, and other members of the group.
