Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has met with a delegation of stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from Kebbi State, as consultations and strategic alignments ahead of the next general election gather momentum.
Naijapunchnews reports that Atiku hosted the delegation on Wednesday afternoon and later took to his verified 𝕏 handle to express appreciation for the visit, describing the engagement as fruitful and forward-looking.
“This afternoon, I hosted a delegation of ADC stakeholders from Kebbi State. I’m deeply grateful for their visit and encouraged by the quality of our discussions,” Atiku wrote.
The former Vice President disclosed that discussions during the meeting centred on strengthening the ADC and positioning the party as a viable alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
“We focused on further strengthening the ADC, and positioning it not only to defeat the APC in the next election but also to deliver guaranteed good governance to our people,” he added.
Meanwhile, in a related development, the ADC has announced the constitution of a 50-member Wise Men and Women Policy and Manifesto Committee, following the approval of the party’s National Working Committee.
Naijapunchnews reports that the committee was approved by the National Chairman of the ADC, Senator David Mark, as part of efforts to build a credible, people-centred and forward-looking policy framework for national governance.
The Policy and Manifesto Committee is made up of prominent Nigerians drawn from diverse backgrounds, including former public office holders, academics, technocrats, policy experts, civil society leaders and professionals.
According to the party, the members collectively bring vast experience in governance, economic management, social development, security and democratic reforms.
Former Edo State Governor, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, will serve as Chairman of the committee, with renowned political economist, Professor Pat Utomi, as Deputy Chairman, while Salihu Lukman will serve as Secretary.
The party said the committee has been tasked with articulating a clear, coherent and credible policy direction that reflects the aspirations of Nigerians and positions the ADC as a serious alternative platform for responsible leadership and national renewal.
“The committee is expected to produce a manifesto that speaks to the real needs of Nigerians and offers practical solutions to the country’s challenges,” the party said.
The formal inauguration of the Policy and Manifesto Committee has been scheduled for Monday, February 2, at 12 noon, at the Conference Hall of the ADC National Secretariat in Abuja.
