Voters in Kubwa and Byazhin turned out in encouraging numbers during the ongoing area council elections, signalling renewed grassroots engagement despite concerns over inducements in some quarters.
At polling centres located within Kubwa Primary School 2, Kubwa Secondary School 2 and Byazhin LEA, electoral materials were delivered promptly at about 8.30am, allowing accreditation and voting to commence without delay. By late morning, a steady stream of residents had arrived to cast their ballots, many leaving immediately after completing the process.
The busiest units included 001, 008, 148, 146, 046 and 006 at the Kubwa school centres, as well as LEA Biaji units 015, 021 and 112, where turnout remained visibly strong through midday.
Women accounted for a significant share of voters, with market traders particularly prominent at several polling stations. In conversations around the centres, some expressed frustration over the withdrawal of a candidate from the Peoples Democratic Party, with a few indicating they might abstain from voting as a result.
Elsewhere, small groups of individuals were observed lingering near certain polling areas amid suggestions of attempts to sway voter decisions through financial inducements, raising fresh concerns about vote-buying even as the general conduct of the exercise remained orderly.
