Police Invite 14 Senior Officers For AIG Promotion Screening

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has scheduled a promotion examination and interactive session for senior officers seeking elevation to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs).

The exercise is slated for Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the Police Service Commission (PSC) corporate headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.

According to a police wireless communication circulated by NIGPOL FORSEC Abuja to commands and departments nationwide, the session will begin at 8am.

The interview will take place at the chairman’s conference room on the sixth floor of the PSC headquarters.

Officers are expected to report by 7am for briefing and conveyance to the venue.

The officers invited for the promotion exercise include Christopher Ado Emmanuel, Joseph Eribo, Miller Gajere Dantawaye, Henry Ifeanyi Uche, Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo, Mohammed Dahiru, Dankombo Faling Morris, Bello Shehu, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, Ahmed Musa, Olohundare Moshood, Jimoh Simeon, Udofia Akpanudom, and Haruna Oufemi.

All the officers invited currently serve as Commissioners of Police in various commands and units across the country.

The communication also outlined dress code and professional standards for the interview. Officers are required to wear conventional attire, including black jackets, berets, and swagger canes.

The examination will cover areas such as law, local acts, and professional studies. For operational support, the force directed 12 armed officers from the mobile police (MOPOL) unit to provide escort duties.

The transport department has also been directed to provide serviceable vehicles, including two Hilux vans, to convey the officers to and from the venue.

The vehicles are to be on standby at the force headquarters parade ground by 6am.

The directive urged all commands to treat the exercise as “very important” to ensure the smooth conduct of the promotion interviews.

The development comes days after the Police Service Commission promoted seven AIGs to the rank of deputy inspectors-general of police (DIGs).

In a statement on Friday, Torty Kalu, PSC spokesperson, said the promotions were based on merit, seniority, service records, and performance in written and oral examinations conducted at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

The officers promoted to DIG rank include Zachariah Fera Achinyan, Zango Ibrahim Baba, Isyaku Mohammed, Margaret Agebe Ochalla, Mohammed Abdul Sulaiman, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, and Umar Shehu Nadada.

The commission said the promotions were aimed at strengthening the leadership structure of the police force.

BREAKING: NNPCL jerks up fuel price

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has increased the premium motor spirit price after Dangote Refinery raised its gantry price.

A market survey by DAILY POST on Thursday showed NNPCL outlets in Abuja and its environs have adjusted their petrol pump price to N1,364 per liter from N1,295. This means that the state-owned oil firm hiked petrol by N69 per liter.

The latest fuel prices have been implemented at Gwarimpa, Kubwa Expressway, Wuse Zone 6, and Zone 4 NNPCL filling stations in Abuja.

“We adjusted our pump price to N1364 per liter from N1295 this morning, an attendant said.

Filling stations in Abuja, such as MRS, BOVAS, and others, have raised their petrol price to between N1365 and N1370 per liter.

Recall that Dangote Refinery had on Wednesday increased its fuel gantry price by N75 to N1,275 per liter from N1,200 due to a hike in crude oil price to above $115 per liter.

Troops halt late-night terrorist attack in Borno

Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully foiled a late-night attack by suspected ISWAP/JAS terrorists in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.

The development was contained in a post shared on Thursday on X by security analyst , Zagazola Makama.

According to the post, the incident happened at about 11:40 p.m. on April 27 when troops of the 162 Amphibious Battalion detected movement of suspected insurgents approaching their position at Mandaraguirau.

Accordibg to Makama who quoted security sources, the attackers were travelling on about 30 motorcycles and were advancing through the Diwa Kamda and Diwa Mbula axis before they were spotted through surveillance systems.

The troops were said to have immediately engaged the group with firepower, forcing them to retreat without reaching their target or making contact.

The attackers reportedly fled after coming under heavy resistance from the soldiers.

The sources added that the quick response by the troops prevented what could have been a coordinated attack on the area.
