Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, has extended Easter greetings to Christians across Nigeria, calling on them to draw inspiration from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
In a message on Saturday through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, Speaker Abbas congratulated Christians on the successful completion of Lent and the celebration of Easter, which commemorates the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
He urged the faithful to embrace the example set by Christ, describing Him as a “perfect role model for all,” and encouraged them to continue offering prayers for the nation and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu even beyond the Lenten season.
The Speaker emphasised the power of prayer, noting that it has brought about divine intervention in addressing socio-economic, political and religious challenges that have destabilised other countries.
Highlighting the significance of Easter, Abbas pointed to its enduring message of sacrifice, selflessness, obedience and love, urging Nigerians to adopt these virtues in order to promote peace and stability across the country.
He also appealed for greater understanding and harmony among people of different faiths and ethnic backgrounds, describing the overlap of the 2026 Ramadan and Lent periods as “a divine arrangement to foster unity of purpose among Muslims and Christians in Nigeria and beyond.”
The Speaker wished Christians a joyful and peaceful Easter celebration.
