Bandits kill ladies for refusing to be raped
Bandits have shot dead two ladies among the 14 victims abducted from Janjala community in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on March, 1, 2026. This is according to a Daily Trust online report published yesterday night, Sunday, April 5, 2026.
A vigilante member and his wife alongside 12 others were abducted from the community.
The bandits had demanded N14 million ransom.
The families had pleaded with the bandits repeatedly but they stood their ground.
The families later struggled to raise N13 million which they took to the kidnappers who in turn freed other women in captivity but held back the men.
Daily Trust quoted a source from the area as disclosing that after collecting the ransom at a location around Hayin Dam forest in neighboring Kachia Local Government Area of state, on Saturday, the bandits informed the families that they had killed the two ladies.
According to him, the two young girls had resisted alleged attempts by some of the bandits to rape them.
“As the girls refused to allow the bandits rape them, their leader ordered them to be shot on the spot,” the source said.
The source, according to the paper, added that the bandits said they would only release the male victims when the remaining balance of N1 million is paid and foodstuff are provided to them.
A security source also confirmed the killing of two women, but did not give details of the incident, Daily Trust said.
“A community leader also spoke about the killing of two ladies,” the paper said.
It quoted the source as saying: “In fact, it was this afternoon one of the family members of the abducted victims called to inform us that two girls among the victims had been killed.”
The paper said that the Spokesperson of the Kaduna state police command, DSP Hassan Mansur, did not pick calls or reply to text message sent to him over the development.

Troops Kill Five Terrorists, Arrest Suspected Kidnapper In Plateau
Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have killed five suspected terrorists and arrested a suspected kidnapper while dismantling several criminal hideouts in Plateau State.
In a statement, the spokesman of the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace, Captain Chinonso Oteh, said troops carried out intensive clearance operations on Saturday in Babangida, Adua, and Bokayi villages within the Dutsen Zaki forest.
The operations, conducted in partnership with local vigilantes, targeted insurgent corridors in Wase, Qua’an Pan, and Shendam local government areas.
“The superior firepower of the troops resulted in the immediate neutralisation of two suspects, while several others retreated into the dense forest with various degrees of gunshot wounds,” he said.
“Following the initial arrests, troops moved to locate and dismantle the suspects’ hideout, and during this manoeuvre, the unit came under heavy fire from the terrorists’ associates. Amidst the ensuing chaos, three of the four apprehended suspects attempted to escape and were subsequently neutralized by the adversary’s own gunfire.
“While patrolling the Babangida-Adua road, the joint team engaged armed terrorists in a fierce gun battle,” Oteh said.
He said troops recovered weapons and ammunition from the scene, including a locally made firearm and over 100 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
The latest operations came amid a series of violent incidents across Plateau State, including the killings in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North, and subsequent attacks in other areas.
Recently, three people were killed in an ambush in Jos South, a situation triggering growing concerns from residents and rights groups over recurring violence.
Security agencies have since increased deployments and launched clearance operations in suspected criminal hideouts across the state.
The renewed military action also follows President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to Plateau, where he assured residents that the killings would not recur and directed security agencies to intensify efforts to restore peace.

I Paid N2,000 As Her Bride Price, Yet My Wife Refused To Cook For Me – Husband Tells Oyo Court
A man, Ayinla, has told the Grade A Customary Court sitting at Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, that he paid N2,000 as his ‘talkative’ wife’s bride price and she has stopped cooking for him.
His wife, Mosunmola, had brought him to the court, accusing him of living an irresponsible lifestyle.
She alleged that Ayinla consistently neglected his responsibilities at home and showed little concern for her well-being and that of their children.
She further claimed that he led a reckless life, often returning home late at night after she and the children had already gone to bed.
The plaintiff stated that their relationship was fraught with frequent quarrels, leading to several separations.
She explained that she eventually left the marriage when she could no longer endure the strain.
Mosunmola, therefore, urged the court to grant her custody of their children and to compel her husband to take responsibility for their welfare.
In his response, Ayinla agreed to the dissolution of their marriage, alleging that Mosunmola had stopped cooking for him and neglected his welfare.
He also described her as talkative, a trait he found intolerable.
The defendant further claimed that the plaintiff showed him no respect and frequently insulted him.
Mosunmola, in her testimony, said, “My husband and I never got along throughout the time we were together, which led to my decision to leave.“
“He neither paid my bride price nor fulfilled the required traditional marital rites.
“We made no meaningful progress for the eight years our union lasted. Neither did we possess any property.
“My husband was indifferent to my welfare and that of our children.
“He was often absent and always returned home late at night after everyone had gone to bed.
“I single-handedly took care of our children’s needs and gave in-depth attention to their feeding and schooling.
“All that he knew to do was to beat me. We lived separately on many occasions, but we were always reconciled because I hoped he would change, but his behaviour got worse.
“I pray the court to grant me custody of our children and my husband be responsible for their feeding and education.
Ayinla, responding, said. “My wife is a liar. I paid N2,000 as her bride price.
“My wife lacks morals and has been a poor role model for our children.
“She refused to cook for me and would instead tell me to give the children money to prepare my meals.
“My wife is talkative, and I dislike this about her.
“She sometimes said inappropriate things, which often landed her in trouble.
“Our marriage ended when she moved out of my house.”
The court president, Mrs S.M Akintayo, adjourned the case for judgment.
