The Nigeria Police Force has paraded an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Nuhu Usman, alongside four other officers over their alleged involvement in the death of a 28-year-old man, Mine Ogiidi.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred after the victim visited a motor park to retrieve a parcel sent to him by an unidentified individual. Upon inspection, the package was said to contain a firearm, prompting his immediate arrest by the officers on duty.
Sources within the police revealed that during interrogation, ASP Usman allegedly discharged his weapon, resulting in the fatal injury of the suspect. The circumstances surrounding the shooting have since sparked public concern and renewed scrutiny over police conduct during arrests and questioning. 
Following an internal investigation, the police command confirmed that the five officers linked to the incident have been dismissed from service. Authorities also disclosed that the suspects will be formally arraigned in court to face charges related to the killing.
In addition, security operatives have launched a manhunt for a driver believed to have transported the parcel from Yenagoa in Bayelsa State to Delta State, where it was eventually handed over to the deceased.
The case has drawn attention to ongoing concerns about professionalism and accountability within law enforcement, with observers calling for thorough prosecution and justice for the victim.
Police authorities have reiterated their commitment to upholding discipline within the force, stressing that any officer found culpable in unlawful acts will be made to face the full weight of the law.
