The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared Ogundu Kingsley Chinda as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Rivers State after he secured a landslide victory in the party’s primary election.
Chinda, emerged victorious after polling a total of 268,497 votes in the exercise conducted across the state.
The result was announced on Thursday evening at the APC secretariat following the collation of votes from wards in all 23 local government areas of Rivers State.
Chairman of the screening committee, Bitrus Kwamoti, confirmed the outcome of the exercise and described the process as peaceful and orderly.
According to him, the primary election was conducted without any incident of violence, while party members complied with the laid-down guidelines throughout the process.
Kwamoti also commended party faithful for their participation and cooperation, noting that the exercise went smoothly from commencement to the final announcement of results.
Chinda’s emergence officially positions him as the APC flag bearer for the forthcoming governorship election in Rivers State, setting the stage for what is expected to be a keenly contested political battle in the oil-rich state.
