Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has said representatives of United States President Donald Trump have contacted him after he raised concerns about the security and democratic process surrounding the August 15 Osun State governorship election.
Davido disclosed this in a post on X on Tuesday, shortly after appealing to Trump and the international community to pay attention to developments ahead of the poll.
Blaze Newz recalls that the singer had earlier urged the United States and other international stakeholders to monitor the election, citing concerns over possible violence, intimidation and disruption of voting. 
In his latest post, Davido appeared to confirm that his appeal had received a response, although he did not identify the individuals who contacted him or disclose the nature of the communication.
“Dem don reach out ooooo. DEY PLAY! U think the rest of the world is undemocratic like Una! Una go see something,” he wrote.
The statement, written partly in Nigerian Pidgin, came as political tension continues to build across Osun ahead of Saturday’s election.
Davido,a nephew to the incumbent governor of Osun is serving as Chairman of the Imole Youth Mobilization Council, he has recently appeared at several campign venues in the state.
The August 15 poll will involve 2,339,233 registered voters across 30 local government areas, 332 wards and 3,763 polling units, according to data released by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
For Osun residents, the immediate concern remains whether voters will be able to participate safely and whether the electoral process will be conducted transparently.
