Former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Tambuwal, has dragged the Sokoto State Government before the state High Court over its alleged refusal to release the report of a judicial commission that investigated his administration.

Tambuwal, through his counsel, U.O. Sule, SAN, filed the suit, marked SS/133/2026, before Justice Mohammed Mohammed of the Sokoto State High Court 6.

Named as defendants are Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu; the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice; and the Sokoto State Commission of Inquiry.

The legal action followed the alleged failure of the state government and the commission to provide Tambuwal with a copy of the report despite the conclusion of the commission’s proceedings.

The commission was established by the Sokoto State Government to investigate the activities, transactions and other matters relating to the Tambuwal administration, which governed the state between 2015 and 2023.

The inquiry was chaired by a former Chief Judge of Gombe State, Justice Mu’azu Pindiga.

In his suit, Tambuwal is asking the court to compel the defendants to release the commission’s report to him.

He argued that access to the document is necessary for him to know the findings and conclusions reached by the commission after it completed its proceedings.

The former governor’s action has now brought the dispute over the report before the court, with the defendants required to respond to his demand for access to the findings of the inquiry.

Justice Mohammed has fixed November 9, 2026, for judgment in the case.
