The positions include Director-General, Deputy Director-General, campaign spokesperson, Director of Social Media and Financial Controller.

NDC National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, disclosed this on Saturday at a press conference at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Zuwoghe said the structure and campaign timetable of the council had been finalised since late August, but its inauguration would follow the completion of Obi’s vetting and the submission of nominations for the key positions.

He announced October 20, 2026, for the inauguration of the Presidential Campaign Council, presentation of Certificates of Return to candidates and a strategic dinner for the party’s candidates nationwide.

The chairman said a National Executive Committee meeting would also hold that day to consider and approve major decisions relating to the party’s preparations for the elections.

He added that Obi and Kwankwaso would nominate two additional officials who, alongside the national treasurer, would oversee the council’s independent campaign account.

According to Zuwoghe, involving the presidential and vice-presidential candidates in the appointments and financial arrangements was necessary given their central role in the campaign.

“The candidates must also provide direction on campaign funding arrangements to ensure that the council operates within an agreed framework,” he said.

Zuwoghe said the process had the support of the party leadership, Obi, Kwankwaso and the NDC national leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.

He said the full composition of the campaign council would be announced after the party receives the candidates’ recommendations.

The NDC chairman said the arrangement would help avoid disputes over appointments and responsibilities while establishing a coordinated structure for the party’s nationwide presidential campaign.

The October 20 inauguration is expected to mark a major step in the party’s mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
