Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has described supporters of the President as “MAD” over their determination to secure his re-election in 2027.
Onanuga made the remark in a post on X while reacting to comments by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential running mate, Rotimi Amaechi, who criticised the Tinubu administration’s economic policies.
Amaechi, speaking at a town hall meeting in Benin City, Edo State, had said only “mad people” and “thieves” would vote for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
He also faulted the removal of the petrol subsidy, describing the policy as “reckless”, and said Edo residents who voted for Tinubu would be “mad”.
Reacting to Amaechi’s comments, Onanuga embraced the description, saying supporters of the President were indeed “MAD” and explaining the acronym as a reflection of their commitment to Tinubu’s re-election.
“Rotimi Amaechi: Yes, we, the followers and supporters of President Tinubu, are truly MAD. Read why we are.
“Motivated, driven by purpose and passion. Assured, confident in our vision and victory.
“Determined, focused, resolute, and unstoppable for President Tinubu’s re-election,” he wrote.
