The Gunners took the lead in the 25th minute when Eberechi Eze finished brilliantly after a superb pass from Martin Ødegaard.

Eze had come on just 10 minutes earlier after Bukayo Saka was forced off with an injury.

Bayern responded 10 minutes later, with Alphonso Davies finishing after a precise Harry Kane pass to level the contest before half-time.

The German champions turned the game around in the second half when Harry Kane converted a 61st-minute penalty after the ball struck Jurriën Timber’s raised arm inside the Arsenal box.

Arsenal, however, refused to surrender. Declan Rice restored parity in the 82nd minute, giving Mikel Arteta’s side a deserved point after a strong late push.

The result extends Arsenal’s impressive Champions League run.

The Gunners entered the match with six points from their opening two league-phase games, including victories over Napoli and Lille, and had not conceded in either match.

For Bayern, the draw ends a difficult night at home despite another influential performance from Kane. The Bavarians were also without Joshua Kimmich, who missed the match following a bereavement in his immediate family, while Michael Olise was suspended.

The 2-2 result leaves both sides with plenty to build on as the Champions League league phase continues.
