The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Prof. Taiwo Oyedele, has mourned the death of Pa Reuben Fasoranti, describing the late elder statesman as a symbol of integrity, principle and dedicated public service.
Fasoranti, a revered leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation Afenifere, died in 2026 at the age of 100.
In a tribute, Oyedele said the late statesman’s record as Commissioner for Finance in the old Ondo State under the administration of Chief Michael Ajasin remained a benchmark for prudence, accountability and ethical leadership.
He said, “For those of us in economic management, his record as Commissioner for Finance in the old Ondo State under Chief Michael Ajasin remains a clear benchmark of prudence, accountability, and ethical stewardship.”
The minister, who described himself as a proud son of Ondo State, said the state and the country had lost a man whose life exemplified commitment to the public good.
“As a proud son of Ondo State, I share in the grief of our people. The finest tribute to his century of service is to lead with the discipline, fairness, and commitment to the public good that he demonstrated throughout his life,” Oyedele said.
He extended his condolences to the Fasoranti family, members of Afenifere and the people of Ondo State, praying for the peaceful repose of the late elder statesman’s soul.
