The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a 72-hour power outage across parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from Friday, October 23, to Sunday, October 25, 2026.
The planned blackout is expected to affect several major communities and areas within the FCT as the company carries out ongoing construction and power infrastructure relocation works in the Kukwaba area.
In a notice issued to customers, the AEDC said the outage was necessary to facilitate the relocation of some 33kV transmission towers as part of the ongoing construction project.
According to the electricity distribution company, the affected areas include the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Airport Road, Lugbe FHA, Durumi and other communities connected to the affected network.
The outage is expected to commence on Friday and continue through Sunday, October 25, during the period scheduled for the infrastructure works.
The AEDC said the affected customers should make necessary arrangements ahead of the planned interruption, which is expected to result in prolonged power cuts across the listed areas.
The development comes as electricity distribution companies across the country continue to undertake network upgrades, maintenance and construction works aimed at improving the reliability and capacity of electricity supply.
Residents and businesses in the affected parts of the FCT are expected to experience significant disruptions during the 72-hour period, particularly those whose activities depend heavily on public electricity supply.
