Residents of Esunsun Street, along Igbole Road, Ido-Ekiti, have decried prolonged neglect of their community, citing persistent blackout, lack of solar streetlights and deplorable road conditions.

The residents said the street has remained without a single solar-powered streetlight, leaving the area in total darkness at night and raising concerns over safety, movement and general well-being.

They added that the poor state of the road has made access difficult, especially for motorists, compounding their daily challenges.

According to them, efforts to draw the attention of the Senator representing Ekiti North, Senator Cyril Fasuyi, who hails from Ido-Ekiti, have been unsuccessful despite several letters and phone calls.

Faced with the situation, the residents said they extended an invitation to Dr. Funso Ayeni, who is seeking the Ekiti North Senatorial seat, to visit the community and assess their plight.

Dr. Ayeni, they said, delegated a team led by Hon. Olayode Omotoso, who met with residents and listened to their complaints over the lack of streetlights and bad road.

During the interaction, residents said they want practical solutions, improved infrastructure and responsive representation.

They expressed willingness to support Dr. Ayeni in the forthcoming election if he commits to addressing their challenges, stressing that community development, accessibility and public safety should be central to electoral decisions.

For the people of Esunsun Street, the appeal goes beyond politics. It is a call for attention to a community that says it has waited too long for basic amenities.

Their demands remain simple: a motorable road, streetlights to illuminate the neighbourhood and representation that delivers tangible results.
