The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kwara State chapter, has removed the chairman of its Ifelodun Local Government Area chapter, Abdulrasheed Akogun, from office over alleged anti-party activities.
The party announced Akogun’s removal in a letter signed on behalf of the Kwara State chapter, following the findings of a three-member Disciplinary and Investigative Panel constituted to investigate allegations against him.
According to the party, the panel established that Akogun attended and participated in meetings with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Engr. Kale Kawu, without the knowledge, approval or authorisation of the ADC.
The party described the alleged conduct as a violation of its constitution, principles and code of conduct.
It said the matter was subsequently reviewed by the Council of Elders, State Working Committee and State Executive Council, which unanimously resolved that Akogun’s actions amounted to gross misconduct, breach of party discipline and anti-party activities.
“Accordingly, you are hereby removed from your position as the Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, with immediate effect,” the letter stated.
The party further directed Akogun to immediately hand over all ADC documents, records, official materials and other property in his possession to the appropriate party authority.
The ADC, however, appreciated his past contributions to the party and wished him well in his future endeavours.
