The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, has announced a six-hour planned power outage in parts of the Federal Capital Territory and Niger State on Friday.
The outage,
scheduled to run from 10am to 4pm, is expected to affect several residential, commercial and surrounding communities across the two areas.
AEDC, in a public notice issued on Thursday, said the interruption was necessary to enable its technical team to carry out scheduled maintenance and upgrade works on its electricity infrastructure.
In the FCT, affected areas include Lugbe, Airport Road, Kapwa Village, NNPC Estate, Trademore Estate, Aco Estate, Gudu and parts of the Central Area.
In Niger State, the affected locations include Suleja, Kaduna Road, Sabon Wuse, Dikko, Madalla, Zuba, Dakwa and Tungan Maje, among other neighbouring communities.
The electricity distribution company said the maintenance was part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen its network, improve reliability and enhance electricity supply across the FCT and neighbouring areas.
AEDC apologised for the inconvenience the planned outage may cause residents and businesses, assuring customers that power supply would be restored immediately after the maintenance work is completed.
The company also advised customers in the affected areas to switch off and disconnect electrical appliances during the outage to protect them from possible damage when electricity is restored.
