Former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has welcomed the Federal High Court judgment restraining Governor Hope Uzodimma from parading himself as the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election.
The court also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to recognise and publish Okorocha’s name as the APC’s authentic candidate for the election.
Reacting to the judgment on Thursday, Okorocha said the ruling marked a victory for justice.
He recalled an earlier election in which, according to him, one person allegedly wrote more than 300 results, leading to a candidate who came fourth emerging as the winner.
Okorocha said the situation was similar to what occurred in the Imo West senatorial contest.
“Justice has finally prevailed. This was the same thing that happened when one person wrote more than 300 results, causing someone who came fourth to become number one,” he said.
He commended the judiciary for upholding justice, adding that the judgment demonstrated that “the Presidency is tired of this nonsense.”
Okorocha also urged his supporters in Imo West to remain calm and celebrate what he described as a victory for justice.
