Martin Ødegaard scored the decisive goal in the 72nd minute to hand Arsenal the victory at the Emirates Stadium.

The Arsenal captain reacted quickest after Hull goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis parried Noni Madueke’s effort, firing home the rebound to break the visitors’ resistance.

The goal rewarded Arsenal’s sustained pressure after a frustrating opening period in which Hull defended resolutely and threatened on the counter-attack.

Mikel Arteta’s men had struggled to create clear-cut opportunities in the first half, with Kai Havertz missing a one-on-one chance.
Hull also came close to taking the lead, but goalkeeper David Raya produced an important save to deny Elliot Stroud.

The visitors’ defensive organisation continued to frustrate Arsenal after the break, but Ødegaard eventually found the breakthrough.

The victory was Arsenal’s fifth consecutive Premier League win and ninth in 10 league matches this season, taking their points tally to 27 and extending their lead over Manchester City to six points ahead of City’s later fixture against Nottingham Forest.
The result also ensured Arsenal maintained their position at the summit of the Premier League table heading into the international break.
Hull, meanwhile, were left disappointed after a disciplined performance failed to earn them a point.
