BREAKING: Rivers boils as arsonists bomb APC Secretariat
Rivers State boils as suspected arsonists detonated explosives at the Rivers State secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Port Harcourt, just hours before the local government election in the state in Saturday.
According to video footage shared on social media, the blast, believed to have been caused by dynamite, caused significant damage to the APC secretariat. The main gate and security post were destroyed, along with parts of a nearby building.
Chief Tony Okocha, the caretaker committee chairman of the APC in Rivers State, confirmed the incident, alleging that supporters of Governor Siminalayi Fubara were behind the attack.
Okocha took to social media, writing: “In the early hours of Saturday, pro-Fubara civilian soldiers detonated dynamites at our office. The second attempt to set it ablaze was foiled as the security team on-site quickly extinguished the fire.”

The attack has heightened tension ahead of the local government elections, as political violence and security concerns continue to loom over the process. Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident, and investigations are expected to follow.
