February 13, 1976 remains a date that Nigerians will never be in a hurry to forget as a true Nigerian head of State, General Muhammad Murtala was assassinated in a coup d’etat led by Col. Bukar Dimka.

General Murtala was seen by Nigerians as a man on a mission to purge Nigeria of all social maladies particularly corruption.
Murtala was assassinated on his way to the mosque on Friday.
