The political space has lost one of its vocal figures, Jesutega Onokpasa, known for his strong ties to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and regular appearances in public discourse.
Onokpasa’s death occurred on Monday, with confirmation coming a day later.
News of his passing was shared by APC supporter Okezie Atani through a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, where he expressed condolences to Onokpasa’s wife and children.
“The passing of Barrister…” his post began, though it trailed off in the version shared publicly.
He wrote, “The passing of Barrister Jesutega Onokpasa is a profound loss to the Nigerian political and legal landscape. As a dedicated lawyer and political commentator, he was deeply engaged in shaping discourse and advocating for his beliefs.
“May His Soul Rest in Perfect Peace. Amen.”
Onokpasa, who served as a member of the APC’s Presidential Campaign Council during the 2023 general elections, passed away under circumstances yet to be disclosed.
He contributed to the party’s Publicity Committee, gaining recognition for his political analysis and unwavering support for President Tinubu on television.
