The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strengthened its presence in the House of Representatives following the defection of two lawmakers from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

The defectors,  Rep. Abdulmumini Jibrin representing Kiru/Bebeji federal constituency and Rep. Sagir Ibrahim Koki, representing Municipal Federal Constituency, both from Kano State, officially joined the APC during Thursday plenary session, further tilting the balance of power in favour of the ruling party.

Rep. Jibrin, who chairs the House Committee on Housing, had earlier announced his resignation from the NNPP and the Kwankwasiyya movement, citing deep divisions within the party’s leadership at both state and national levels.

Their exit marks another blow to the NNPP’s influence in Kano politics and signals shifting political alliances ahead of future electoral battles.
