Kano Hisbah arrests popular TikToker, Murja Kunya over alleged imorality
By Francesca Hangeior
Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested popular TikToker, Murja Ibrahim Kunya, over alleged immorality.
Recall that police arrested Kunya last January while she was trying to book hotel rooms for guests who came from far and near to attend her birthday party.
The spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa said the arrest followed complaints from clerics that she ”uses vulgar language and corrupts the morals of the society in her videos.”
In November 2023, the Kano Hisbah announced plans to facilitate marriages for TikTokers in the state, including Kunya.
Aliyu Usman, chairman, Operation ‘Kai da badala’ who doubles as the Officer-in-charge of Surveillance, confirmed the latest arrest to Daily Trust on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.
“She was arrested yesterday (Monday) late evening at her residence located at Tinshama area. We spent about three hours waiting for her before she finally showed up and we picked her up,” he said.
“She is being charged with immoral acts which she is widely known for. There is someone who every day comes around to pick her around 10pm and will return her by 12 midnight or 1am,”
He added that Kunya will be arraigned before a Shari’ah Court sitting at PRP on Tuesday.
