Cyril Obarakpo, a resident of Oria-Abraka in Delta State, etched his name in local history as he tied the knot with two women in a unique wedding ceremony over the weekend.

A viral video capturing the event showcased Mr Obarakpo passionately kissing both brides in the presence of friends and family as they cheered along.

The pre-wedding photoshoot added a touch of fandom, with Mr Obarakpo and his two wives donning matching Manchester United jerseys and jeans.

The unconventional ceremony has surprised many Nigerians and is reminiscent of similar events in the past.

It is not the first time such a wedding has occurred in Nigeria. Tersugh Aondona, popularly known as Aterry-Baba, made headlines in January by marrying three wives—Blessing, Nancy, and Sulumshima—in a single ceremony at Lante Kukwagh Comprehensive Secondary School in Jato-Aka, Kwande Local Government Area, Benue State.

The Delta State region has witnessed similar unique weddings before. In 2017, a man identified as Emamuzo from Isoko South married two brides, Janet and Osioni, attracting widespread attention after their wedding banner went viral online.

Girls among 49 arrested suspects of Yola’s notorious Shila Boys robbery gangs

Police operatives in Adamawa State said on Wednesday that they have made fresh arrests of 49 gangsters identified as Shila Boys.

Shila Boys are mostly teenagers and, in a few cases, adolescents, whose stock in trade is robbing residents of their phones and other handy belongings.

Two of the arrested suspects are girls, a departure from what was long known as Shila Boys being male.

The Adamawa State Police Command, in a statement by the Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said recent operations by the command led to the arrest of the suspects.

SP Nguroje said that the operations at identified criminal hideouts and blackspots within the state capital, including areas around Geriyo Junction, Doubeli Junction, Jambutu Aso Rock, Behind Ramat College, and Total Flyover, all in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area, led to the arrest of the 47 boys and two girls.

“The Adamawa State Police Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, assures members of the public that the command will continue to employ all necessary resources and strategies to sustain the fight against Shila gangsterism,” the police PRO stated.

DAILY POST reports that the activities of Shila Boys have worsened in recent times to the point that on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, the Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, hinted at fresh measures to curb them.

The young criminals have recently been using cars to waylay bag-carrying residents, seize the bags and drive off, as against their known use of tricycles, which they operate as passenger vehicles and rob unlucky residents who enter such vehicles.

They have now also been noticed to include girls among them to deceive people into entering their vehicles since Shila Boys are not known to have girls among them.

Gunmen suspected to be cultists have killed one person at the popular Aroma junction in Awka, Anambra State capital.

The shooting of the youth on Wednesday evening caused pandemonium, causing traders in the area to quickly close their shops and scamper for safety.

The victim, who was said to hail from Amudo Village in Awka, was said to be a tricycle revenue collector who was previously a Keke operator himself.

A source said the assailants trailed him from the Ifite area of the state capital and shot him at close range at a filling station, which serves as a popular bus stop for buses and tricycles.

Business outfits in the area were forced to close shops, and roadside traders abandoned their articles and fled.

The major roads in the vicinity of the incident suddenly became empty, just as many people abandoned their cars and took to their heels.

The lifeless body of the victim was still lying at the filling station at the time of filing this report.

Awka has been witnessing cult-related killings for some time now, with gangs killing their rivals in broad daylight.
