Man trapped in plane bathroom for 35 minutes, rescued by pilot
A passenger named Brent found himself trapped in a plane toilet for 35 minutes, and it was the pilot who came to his rescue leaving other passengers wondering who was flying the plane.
Brent was on a domestic flight in the US, from Salt Lake City to New Orleans. He went to use the bathroom while his wife looked after their two young children. As time ticked by, his wife began to wonder if he was taking ‘longer than needed’ just to get a break from their two lively kids, aged two and four.
It was only when ten minutes had passed and the children started to become restless, with the four year old asking where his dad was. The wife shared her story on Reddit, saying: “I heard a flight attendant say the word ‘stuck’.”
“Something clicked and I said, ‘Excuse me, is there someone stuck in the bathroom? ‘ ‘Yes’, she said. ‘The door is jammed, and someone is stuck in there’. I said, ‘… I think that’s my husband! ‘ My attention turned to the back of the plane, where sure enough, two Delta flight attendants were trying to open the bathroom door to free my trapped husband.
Soon, the two flight attendants (both women) asked a random male passenger to help try to unjam the door. He tried his best, but it was no use.”, reports the Mirror. She revealed that her husband had been gone for 20 minutes and was now “stuck in a 3.5 x 5ft pee and poop box”.
She continued: “Next up to try his luck, and I kid you not, was THE PILOT. Don’t ask me who was flying the plane. I think they may have needed his permission to potentially damage the door to get Brent out. The pilot was really giving it is all. But it wasn’t until Brent kicked the hell out of the door while the pilot was pulling as hard as possible that Brent finally made his escape.”
She said that once her hubby had managed to get free, she checked her watch to find Brent had been trapped for 35 minutes in a Delta bathroom. The relieved mum said that she was thankful her husband had not taken the four year old with him, and that it was a 34 year old man who got stuck and not an elderly person or young child.
She added: “Delta Air Lines asked that I wouldn’t share the videos a fellow passenger took for me on social media (I couldn’t leave my kids in their seats alone to take my own pictures/videos). But customer service wouldn’t even refund our, as you can imagine, terrible flights. So…here we are.”

Finally, IGP approves hunger protests across Nigeria
The Nigerian police has finally approved the planned nationwide protests and outlined conditions for participants.
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, revealed this on Friday while addressing journalists in Abuja.
He urged all groups planning to participate in the proposed nationwide protest to submit their details to the Commissioners of Police in their respective states.
The police boss said this was to ensure the protest was peaceful.
Egbetokun said, “We acknowledge the constitutional right of Nigerian citizens to peaceful assembly and protest.
“However, in the interest of public safety and order, we urge all groups planning to protest to provide necessary details to the Commissioner of Police in the state where the protest is intended to take place.
“To facilitate a successful and incident-free protest, they should please provide the following information: state the proposed protest routes and assembly points; expected duration of the protest; and names and contact details of protest leaders and organisers.”
The police boss said the information expected from the organisers also include measures to prevent hijacking by criminal elements, as well as key identifiers for possible isolation of potential troublemakers.
By providing the information, he said, the police will be able to deploy adequate personnel and resources to ensure public safety.
He said the police needed to know the specific routes and areas for the protest to avoid conflicts with other events or activities.
Mr Egbetokun said the police will “establish clear communication channels with protest leaders to address any concerns or issues that may arise; minimise the risk of violence, property damage, or other criminal activity.
“We encourage all protesters to cooperate with the police, obey the law, and adhere to global best practices for peaceful assembly to guarantee a safe and successful exercise of their rights.
