Herbert Wigwe’s Burial Ceremony: Rivers State Police Enhance Security Measures
The Rivers State Police Command has taken significant steps to reinforce security arrangements in order to ensure a peaceful and well-organized burial ceremony for the late Herbert Wigwe, his wife, and son.
In anticipation of the expected large gathering of mourners and guests from various parts of the world, the Rivers State Police Command has deployed mobile police personnel from the 19 PMF, 30 PMF, 46 PMF, 55 PMF, 56 PMF, 58 PMF, State Intelligence Department (SID), undercover personnel, as well as tactical units and conventional police officers from Bayelsa State.
This proactive measure is aimed at ensuring the safety and security of the venue and its surroundings, upholding the solemnity of the occasion, and maintaining public safety throughout the proceedings.
The Rivers State Police Command kindly requests the cooperation of all residents and attendees, urging them to comply with the directives of law enforcement officials and adhere to designated security protocols.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, psc, has emphasized the importance of residents remaining law-abiding and carrying out their lawful activities while showing respect and consideration for the solemn nature of the event.
Furthermore, the CP assures the public of the Police Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and order during this period of mourning. The Command stands ready to promptly address any security concerns and ensure the safety and well-being of all attendees.
The Rivers State Police Command would like to extend its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the late Herbert Wigwe during this challenging time. May the souls of the departed rest in peace.

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has given accreditation to more foreign schools to write the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The Acting Director, Information and Public Relations, Mr. Azeez Sani, disclosed this in a statement.
The newly accredited schools are in Niger Republic and Equatorial Guinea.
“NECO Accreditation Team visited the Schools to assess their readiness to write the SSCE and BECE.
“The Accreditation Team inspected classrooms, laboratories, libraries, computer laboratories, workshops, examination halls and sport facilities to determine their adequacy and suitability for NECO Examinations.
“After a thorough evaluation and comprehensive assessment, the schools were granted full SSCE and full BECE accreditation status,” the statement said.
The statement added that the accreditation of additional foreign schools is a testament to NECO’s commitment to providing quality education and assessment beyond the shores of Nigeria.
“With its expanding global presence, NECO is poised to become a leading examination body in Africa, offering opportunities for students worldwide to benefits from its expertise, thus contributing to the advancement of education in Africa and beyond.”
In another development, the statement disclosed that candidates are participating in the on-going NECO SSCE External in Diffa, Niger Republic.
“The UNHCR School, Diffa, Niger Republic is the first NECO SSCE External Centre outside Nigeria.”
NECO examinations are now written by candidates in Benin Republic, Togo, Cote’ d’Ivoire, Niger Republic, Equatorial Guinea and Saudi Arabia.
