Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association Class 92 has honoured Hon. Dr. Olotu Akpodiete JP, the Executive Director of Olotu & Ekuogbe Rowland Akpodiete Foundation with the Prestigious Silver Jubilee Philanthropist Man of the Year 2023.
Dr. Akpodiete, alongside other prominent Mariners, bagged various awards during the Silver Jubilee Anniversary of Class 92 held in Ughelli.
According to the Association, Dr. Akpodiete bagged the award for his tireless support for the school and the association.
It was revealed that Dr. Akpodiete had in the past donated Ceiling fans & Note Books to the school, provided security training for both staff and students of the school, provided awards & Scholarships to the students, donated personal protective materials during COVID-19 to the school among others.
Presenting the award to Dr. Akpodiete, the Chairman of Class 92, Dr. Taghogho Apochi ably represented by Vice Chairman, Mr. Oke Ajeje lauded him for his support for the service as well as service to humanity.
Dr. Apochi urged other members of the association to emulate Dr. Akpodiete and other awardees to support the school and association.
He called on the awardee not to relent in his oars but continue to offer support and help the school and association to grow better.
Speaking shortly after receiving the award, Dr. Akpodiete thanked the association for the honour and promised to do more.
He said the award will spur him to do more and called on other good spirited Mariners to support the school and association at large.
Among other awardees are Dr. Von Apochi, Mr. Alex Urhurde, Hon. Ufuoma Olotu, Barr. Collins Ayo & Mr. John Olomu.
