Delta killings: Don’t Hide Any Suspect, Oborevwori Warns Traditional Rulers
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State issued a stern warning to kingdoms and traditional rulers in the state, cautioning them against harboring or protecting individuals involved in the heinous act of killing four military officers and 13 soldiers in Okuama community, Ughelli South Local Government Area.
The Governor emphasized that those responsible for this atrocious act would face the full force of the law, asserting the imperative need to identify and apprehend the culprits.
Addressing traditional rulers at the State Traditional Rulers’ Council Secretariat in Asaba, Oborevwori condemned the attack on the military personnel as barbaric, inhumane, and utterly unacceptable.
He revealed that both the Chief of Army Staff and the President had assured him that innocent civilians would not be unjustly targeted, except for those found to have colluded with the perpetrators of the crime.
Reiterating that such violence is alien to the state, the Governor underscored Delta’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and principles of human decency.
He recounted previous efforts to foster peace in the affected communities and lamented the sudden eruption of violence, urging cooperation from traditional leaders in rooting out the perpetrators.
Chairman of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, HRM Maj. Gen. Felix Mujakperuo (retd), echoed the Governor’s sentiments, affirming their collective dedication to restoring and maintaining peace and security across the state.
