How 16 bullets were extracted from my friend after shooting – Alex Onyia

The Chief Executive Officer of Educare – an online learning platform, Alex Onyia, has disclosed how his friend, Kene Nnadi, narrowly escaped death.
Onyia, known for sponsoring the tutorials of some candidates of the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, shared the news via his X handle on Tuesday evening.
Tweeting as #winexviv, Onyia noted that some assailants wanted to kill his friend but the attempt didn’t claim his life.
He stated that 16 bullets had been removed from the victim’s body with three more remaining.
Onyia added that his friend, Nnadi, was rejected by hospitals in Nigeria. He, however, didn’t disclose the hospitals or their locations.
“16 extra bullets removed from his body and three remaining. They wanted to kill my friend Kene but God said no. All hospitals rejected him and asked for a police report before treating him.
“We managed to get one that attended to him until we flew him to London. Today, we thank God,” the tweet read.
Findings by our correspondent revealed that the victim, with full name, Fredrick Kenechi Nnadi, is a lawyer and a member of the People’s Democratic Party who contested as a candidate for the Enugu North Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly in 2018.
In 2022, Nnadi, again, contested for the Enugu North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
However, some users on X.com, bemoaned the lack of care for human life at some Nigerian hospitals, while some were thankful that the lawyer cum politician was alive.
In late October 2023 that the Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, directed the compulsory treatment of gunshot victims without police report.
This was in line with the Compulsory Treatment and Care for Victims of Gunshot Act 2017, according to the directive of the police boss.
However, the tweeps expressed dismay at how some hospitals have failed to comply with the police IG’s directive.
An X user, That Ajulu tweeting as #ajulu_ asked, “I need help understanding this police report rule. Even if they suspect foul play, is it not better for them to call the police to the hospital while they treat the person.?”
Onyia stated, “These people are non-challant. I honestly don’t understand the reason behind police reports on gunshot wounds. And there was a new rule passed by the Senate under Saraki that gunshot victims should be attended to but these hospitals are ignorant of it.”
A tweep, Airdrop global (Storm) tweeting as #Airdropglobal5, wondered, “19 bullets and he’s still alive ? He’s a lucky man.”
A user on X, Oluwashola, tweeting as #Sholexx_ opined, “These are pellets from pump action cartridges. They’re not bullets. Nobody will survive 19 bullet wounds on the body. The body can’t sustain such a devastating injury. A cartridge carries approximately 12 pellets. He was shot twice. Glad he’s alive and doing fine.”

As part of the annual 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, the House of Representatives is set to lead a historic march on Monday, November 25, 2024, in a bold effort to tackle gender-based violence (GBV) in the country.
The march, which begins at 8:00 AM, will see over 1,000 participants, including lawmakers and members of the public walk from the National Assembly to the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja. The event will culminate in the submission of a petition to the Inspector General of Police, demanding decisive action against GBV and greater protection for vulnerable groups.
Speaking about the initiative, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD., GCON, said, “This march and the activities that follow are not mere gestures but a reflection of our determination to confront gender-based violence head-on. We are committed to building a society where justice, equality, and safety prevail for all Nigerians.”
In a statement by the House Spokesperson, Rep. Akin Rotimi on Saturday in Abuja, he said, “The 10th House of Representatives has reaffirmed its commitment to systemic reforms, collaboration, and accountability in the fight against gender-based violence.
“In addition to the march, the House has outlined key activities in alignment with its Legislative Agenda (2023–2027) to sustain awareness and action throughout the campaign period.

“National Citizens’ Summit and GBV Conference 2024 – Tuesday, December 10, 2024. The summit will focus on constitutional reforms and securing endorsements for gender equality initiatives led by the House of Representatives”.

President Bola Tinubu has departed Galeao Air force Basa (SBGL) Airport, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Saturday, for Abuja after attending the 19th G20 Leaders Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The President is due to arrive at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at 10.00 p.m. (Nigerian time).
President Tinubu had attended the G20 Leaders summit where he endorsed the global alliance against hunger and poverty, which he said was pivotal.
The President also held bilateral talks with Kristalina Georgieva, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), who commended his administration’s economic reforms and their positive indicators.
He also presided over the signing of a 2.5 billion dollar Letter of Intent between the Nigerian government and the JBS S.A., a Brazilian company and one of the top three largest meat processing companies in the World.
The president was accompanied in the trip by senior government officials including the minister of foreign affairs yusuf Tuggar, the national security adviser, Nuhu RIBADU and many others.
