Kaduna communities lament link bridge collapse
By Francesca Hangeior.
The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Executive Chairman of Zango Kataf Local Government Area, in Kaduna, Yabo Ephraim, has said gully erosion has cut off the Tsoriyang bridge along Zonkwa Madakiya road linking several communities and Kafanchan town, the headquarters of Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by Ephraim, the bridge has posed a challenge to motorists making the area impassable.
He also advised commuters to take a different route for safety.
Zonkwa-Madakiya is one of the fastest routes to access Jema’a Local Government Area.
“The Council Chairman, Francis Sani Zimbo urged the affected communities to exercise patience as effort is underway to fix the setback caused by the collapsed bridge.
“He equally appeals to all well meaning individuals to join hands in bringing solutions to the challenge,” Zimbo said.
A local resident in the area, Mr. Isaac Ishaku, said it was the delay by the relevant authority to intervene that led to the total collapse of the bridge, he said.
“We saw the problem coming but surprisingly no action was taken by the authorities to mitigate the erosion threat. It all started as a small pothole close to the bridgehead but this year, unprecedented flood accelerated the erosion menace.
“This is the busiest route used by our people including those coming from Kaduna passing to Kafanchan town,” Ishaku said.

By Francesca Hangeior
The All Progressives Congress has congratulated the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on his re-election in the just-concluded governorship election.
Aiyedatiwa won the election, having polled a total of 366,781 votes across all 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
He defeated his closest rival — Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party, who got 117,845 votes.
In a statement issued by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on Sunday, and made available to PUNCH Online, the party described Aiyedatiwa as a “clear attestation” that his administration’s policies “resonated deeply with the electorate.”
The statement read, “The All Progressives Congress (APC) heartily congratulates the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on his re-election.
“Your Excellency’s resounding victory in the just-concluded Ondo State gubernatorial election is a clear attestation that your administration’s policies and programmes and campaign message of hope and consolidation have resonated deeply with the electorate.
