Federal Government Announces Sale of Palliative Rice, But South East States Yet To Receive Allocation
The federal government has announced the sale of 50kg bags of rice for N40,000, a 50% reduction from the market price. According to Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, 20 trucks of rice have been distributed to each state, and the bags are being sold at designated centers.
However, despite the announcement, the South East states are yet to receive their allocation of the palliative rice. This has put the state governments in a difficult position, as they face pressure from citizens who are expecting the relief materials.
Sources reveal that while some states have received fertilizers, which are being distributed, the South East states are still waiting for their share of the palliative rice. The federal government’s failure to deliver the rice to the region has sparked controversy and raised questions about the government’s commitment to supporting all regions of the country.
The minister’s announcement did not specify the locations where the rice is being sold, further complicating the situation for citizens in the South East states who are eager to access the palliative rice.
